Bill of Materials (BoM)
Define and manage the parts lists for each equipment type to standardize maintenance planning.
Overview
The Bill of Materials (BoM) page lets you define reusable parts lists that describe which spare parts are needed for a given component or equipment model. Each BoM can be linked to a catalog component and one or more equipment models, then referenced by standard jobs and maintenance profiles.
Key Concepts
- BoM record -- A named container (e.g. "Engine Overhaul Kit -- CAT 793F") that groups related parts together.
- BoM items -- Individual part line-items inside a BoM, each with a quantity and optional notes.
- Catalog component -- An optional link to the component catalog, indicating which machine component the BoM covers.
- Model association -- BoMs can be scoped to one or more equipment models so only relevant BoMs appear during planning.
- Standard job link -- Standard jobs reference a BoM to know which parts are consumed during that job.

Common Questions
Can I use the same part in multiple BoMs?
Yes. Parts are independent records. A single part can appear in as many BoMs as needed, each with its own quantity.
What happens when I delete a BoM?
The BoM is soft-deleted (marked with a deletedAt timestamp). It no longer appears in lists but can be restored by an administrator if needed.
Who can create or edit BoMs?
Users with the Admin or Planner role can create, edit, and delete BoMs. Technicians can add or update individual BoM items.
